Oh, nevermind everyone.  I discovered NerdVittles and I'm already well 
on my way.  I'll still certainly take advice, but for anyone else just

need to know.  The whole site is chock-full of great information.

FYI:  I did purchase the $149 special at Fry's and it's the same machine 
they were selling for $249 a few months ago, that I also purchased.  
It's pretty hard to beat $149, and it has a 250W power supply so it 
won't kill your electric bill (so much) if you leave it running all the 
time.  Eventually I'll migrate to some sort of super-small, silent PC 
with a brick power supply, but this one is working pretty well for me 
for now.
